Education without sovereignty is obedience
We advance education that is free from political, religious, and corporate coercion, rooted in the sovereignty of communities and cultures, and designed to strengthen democracy.
Our MissionFour commitments
Structural Literacy
Citizens who cannot analyze the systems that govern their lives cannot hold those systems accountable. Structural literacy is the foundation of democratic participation.
Academic Freedom
A structural commitment, not a slogan. Education that challenges power has always needed protection. That protection requires institutional architecture built to withstand political interference.
Cultural Sovereignty
The right of communities to educate on their own terms. Through curricula that honor the languages, histories, and knowledge systems of the people they serve.
Economic Agency
Education should equip people to build economic power, not just understand it. Citizens who cannot participate in shaping economic systems are governed by those who can.
Our current initiatives.
Democracy depends on citizens who can think independently about the systems that shape their lives. We are strategically positioned to make an impact in these areas.
